FIRST TIME - how to Prepare
You don't need to have any knowledge of yoga to take part in our classes. Come to class on an empty stomach. We recommend that you don't eat anything solid in the 2 hours prior to class. The teacher will lead the class with clear direction and you will be able to join in with most of them right from your very first class.
What to Wear. Comfortable clothing. We practice in a hot room so you WILL sweat. Synthetic, stretchy materials are generally more comfortable than cotton in the hot-room environment. Men should wear shorts, ladies shorts or leggings, with a sports bra/top.
Yoga Mats. If you dont own a yoga mat these can be rented at the school (ie. £3/class). We do sell them and they can be purchased from most sporting goods stores. The best mats for hot yoga are non porous, so that they do not soak up sweat like a sponge.
Yoga Towel. You will need a long towel that covers the length of your mat. We stock and sell Manduka's equa purpose made yoga towels at the school. They are designed to be non-slip, and highly absorbent. The soft, suede-like, microfiber fabric is ultra absorbent, exceptionally durable and quick drying to give you great traction during class.
Water Bottle. We do NOT allow the use of single use plastics at the school, as we want to help reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the oceans or landfill. We recommend you invest in a reusable water bottle, and you can fill your bottle from our high tech water filter free of charge. If you forget to bring a bottle you can borrow one from reception for free, but PLEASE give it back after class.
Electrolytes. If you feel tired after class it's often because you need to replenish your body with minerals and electrolytes lost during class. One of the quickest (and tastiest) ways of doing so is with coconut water, or by add electrolytes to your water. These can be purchased at reception.
Changing Facilities. These have showers, hair dryers and lockers in which you can secure any valuables. The courtyard is a lovely space in which to congregate in after class and provides you with a chance to meet and exchange your experience with your fellow yogis.

Yoga Etiquette:
Our yoga school is place to come and get away from your regular routine and the outside world; a place to explore and discover more about yourself in the company of other curious like-minded individuals. Once you've passed reception please switch off your mobile phone and other electronic devices.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of class so that you are in no rush. A chance to familiarise yourself with the layout of the school, introduce yourself to your teacher and find a place for your self in the yoga room to lay out your mat, ready to receive instructions.
The only things you need to take into the studio to practice are: yourself, your mat, towel and water bottle. No bags, purses to mobile phones are allowed in the yoga room. There are secure lockers in the changing rooms in which you can leave your valuables.
Come to class hydrated, and manage your intake during the class. Drink water between different postures, not in between the 1st and 2nd set of the same posture.
We ask students not to apply perfume or scented body lotions prior to attending class.
Ensure that you wear appropriate attire; yoga, swim or sports clothes are appropriate, underwear is not.
While there is no talking during class, we do encourage students to speak and introduce themselves to one another before class, which is a great way to meet your new and fellow class mates. Rest assured you'll have a lot you'll want to share once you've left the studio.
Your teacher will always be available after class to take any questions you may have about the class and the postures.
